Deliberations

The holos covering the industrial bioplastic walls of the starkly appointed conference room show views from the windows atop the Admin Stack. Lush green mountains to the west, sparkling blue seas everywhere else. The upper floor of the tower complex at the heart of GenDiver’s Santa Elena company town is where the board had met, even until a month ago, but given the recent unrest, security has decided the tower’s executive level was “tactically vulnerable.” One stealth micro and half the in-system leadership would be dead.

Hence the bunker-like conference room with the piped-in views - due precaution.

You settle into an expensive chair - your vee feeding it preferences, the memory materials and servos adjusting to your form. A glass of water sits on the native wood table in front of you, sweat running down its self-chilling sides despite the HVAC’s effort to keep out the oppressive humidity. You look around the room at the other directors, noting their grim faces. Director of Operations Crawford himself. Director of Prospecting and Extraction. Legal Services. Incorporate Relations. Envoy to the Office of Colonization. Asset Security. Everyone is here.

At a nod, the security tech makes a final sweep of the room, scatters a handful of bug hunters and activates a white noise emitter. He closes the door as he leaves, sealing the Faraday cage in doing so. The green and turquoise light from the surrounding holos tints everyone's face a sickly hue as you each wait for someone else to speak first. Finally, Director Crawford pings your vee, and you integrate the latest sitrep into the countless reports and ancillary files already in your interface.

The situation is fluid, there are potential strategic impacts and major legal concerns, but even if you deliberated through the night it’s clear the decision would be the same. The insurgents are stockpiling weapons - in actuality this time, and in earnest. It’s clear delaying a response will only allow them to accumulate decisive resources or give the GEO time to complicate the situation on the ground with political intervention.

It is equally clear that the circumstances leave only two options:

A - Secure hard evidence, arrest the instigators, and turn over both to the GEO Justice Commission.

or

B - Blow the stockpile in place, taking whatever steps are required to assure there are no witnesses.

(As a group, you are to roleplay this meeting of the GenDiver elite leadership. No need to specify who’s who - you should be able to improvise a debate over which option you should choose.)
